The Isle of Wight will become the hub of international chess this February as elite players from all over the world gather in Ryde.

Spanning six days, the prestigious event offers an engrossing blend of high-stakes competition and the charm of a beautiful seaside setting.

Key tournament highlights

  • The Wightlink Isle of Wight Masters: With a £4,000+ prize pool, this nine-round tournament is set to attract Grandmasters and titled players worldwide. Open to players with a FIDE rating of 1600+, every game will be played on DGT boards and broadcast live.
  • The Visit Isle of Wight “Holiday” U2000: For juniors and casual players, this six round event provides invaluable experience in a longer competition format.
  • The Wightlink Congress: Concluding the festival, this five-round event is ideal for players completing the U2000 tournament or those looking for a shorter competition.
  • Blitz events: Fast-paced and thrilling, three separate Blitz tournaments will offer players additional chances to win cash and DGT prizes.

The tournament welcomes juniors players and the facilities on site make it the perfect place for families to attend and show support.

You can watch on from a dedicated viewing platform for live action or you can see it all unfold from screens in the theatre.

An excellent lineup of 40 Masters will be in attendance, so it’s a tournament not to be missed.
