Portsmouth Gunwharf works

Changes to entering our Portsmouth Gunwharf port

From Monday, 4 November to Monday, 16 December, we are carrying out major works to the entrance to our Portsmouth Gunwharf car ferry port.

The entrance will be closed during this period while we replace the road surface and this will mean changes to the way your enter the port with your vehicle. You may also be affected if your park regularly at the port.

Find out more below.

Key takeaways

  • Please make sure you've booked your sailing in advance

  • Instead of using the port entrance, please check in at the Gunwharf Road car park.

  • Once checked in, you may need to wait in the car park. Please turn off your engine while you wait.

How this will affect your journey

Wightlink's Gunwharf car park

Checking in

Please check in for your sailing at the Gunwharf Road car park – this is the large car park opposite the entrance and exit to our port (what3words: ///pump.fence.local).

If you arrive early for your sailing and the car park area is full, you may be asked to come back later. There is a public car park at Gunwharf Quays.

Waiting and entering the port

Please turn your vehicle off while waiting – this will help reduce noise and air pollution for our neighbours.

When ready, a member of our team will direct you to enter the port via the exit.

Parking Pass holders

If you have a parking pass and the Gunwharf Road car park is full, we will direct you to a lane within the port where you can park.

You will still need to display your Wightlink Parking Pass in the windscreen.
