Island favourite Derek Sandy will sing on several Wightlink crossings over the next few weekends, following his success in the Britain’s Got Talent auditions. He stunned judges on the hit talent show with his song ‘Welcome to the Isle of Wight’ and they rewarded him with four ‘yes’ votes.
Derek will be performing on the Portsmouth – Fishbourne route on Saturday 18 and Saturday 25 May and Saturday 1 June and Thursday 13 June. He will be spreading his love of the Isle of Wight to everyone on board Victoria of Wight on the 11:00 and 13:00 sailings from Portsmouth.
“I can’t wait to perform on board Wightlink’s Victoria of Wight this summer and share my love of the Isle of Wight with passengers and crew. I’m really happy that my music has raised the profile of the Island and hope it will encourage more people to visit in the future,” says Derek.
Wightlink Chief Executive Keith Greenfield adds: “We were delighted that the judges recognised Derek’s star quality in Britain’s Got Talent and know our customers will want to hear him performing on board our flagship Victoria of Wight.”
