Wightlink’s 2022 charity desk calendar is now on sale from its cafés at ports and on its car ferries.
Once again, staff have contributed their best photographs of Solent scenes featuring the company’s fleet and terminals. They include pictures from all routes – Portsmouth-Fishbourne and Lymington-Yarmouth vehicle ferries and the FastCat foot passenger service between Portsmouth Harbour and Ryde Pier Head.
Engineering assistant Phil Sherring took the picture chosen for the front cover, a striking image of the ferry Wight Sky in the Western Solent next to the world’s largest square-rigged sailing ship Golden Horizon. He was asked to nominate the charity to benefit from calendar sales and decided on the Injured Jockeys Fund.
“Many jockeys have suffered life-changing injuries in falls during races and cannot ride again,” he says. “Heartbreakingly, some have even been paralysed and will need considerable support for the rest of their lives. The Injured Jockeys Fund is there to help.”
Calendars are available for £2.50, as long as stocks last, at Wightlink’s Wight Taste cafés.
