Wightlink is now sifting through applications from groups and individuals who want to take part in its sponsorship scheme in 2022.
Each year, the cross-Solent ferry company helps hundreds of people of all ages with thousands of pounds worth of travel through its Wightlink in the Community: Sponsorship scheme. This year’s deadline was the end of October.
The ferry company supports a diverse range of sporting teams, charities, events, community and arts groups – over 150 organisations in total.
Now Wightlink has released a short film, with support from Isle of Wight videography business AlexsLens Productions, to showcase their talents to a wider audience.
Wightlink Chief Executive Keith Greenfield says: “Our film features some of the wide range of groups and individuals we support, from cyclists to surfers, ice skaters to carnival makers and theatres to young musicians and shows the Island’s vibrant and talented community at its best.
“We are hugely proud of the role we play in supporting good causes in the local community, particularly those with a link to young people and those that are involved in environmental initiatives, as we are ourselves.”
More information about the scheme can be found at wightlink.co.uk/sponsorship. Successful applications will be confirmed next month, sponsorships will start on Saturday 1 January 2022 and run for 12 months.
Meanwhile, sports people have until Sunday 21 November to apply for the Isle of Wight Council’s Talented Athletes programme, which is also supported by Wightlink. Application criteria and packs are available at iwight.com/sportsunit or by emailing [email protected].
