Kathryn Hearn receives the donation from Assistant Steward Annette Austin and Scott Rymer from Wightlink’s retail team

Wightlink’s charity calendar cash for Aggie’s

Portsmouth-based Royal Naval charity Aggie’s has benefited from £621, thanks to Wightlink’s customers who bought its 2024 calendar.

Staff members contributed striking images of ships and ports including stunning sunsets and idyllic summer views and Assistant Steward Annette Austin sent in the photo chosen for the front cover. It featured her five-year-old granddaughter Hallie paddling at Old Portsmouth while Wightlink’s hybrid energy flagship Victoria of Wight sailed past.

Kathryn Hearn from Aggie’s says: “This generous donation will enable us to do more to help and support military personnel from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and their families. Thanks to everyone who bought a calendar.”

Dame Agnes Weston founded the charity in 1876. Among her achievements was the establishment of Sailors’ Rests where mariners on shore leave could go for rest and relaxation. Current activities include the Storybook Waves initiative which enables deployed men and women to record bedtime stories for their children back home.
