Wightlink’s festive contest encourages friendly competition among Yarmouth traders

Yarmouth has been alive with twinkling lights in the run-up to Christmas, thanks to a seasonal contest organised by Yarmouth Traders Retail Collective, led by Adrian Evans.

Wightlink stepped in to offer prizes for the most spectacular illuminated shops and pubs as Christmas shoppers thronged the streets of one of the Isle of Wight’s most beautiful towns.

An independent judging panel decided the winner was Ivory Hair Salon, second was the Wheatsheaf Inn and joint third were Fox & Robin, The Blue Crab and Blossoms. All win Wightlink travel vouchers.

Partnerships Marketing Manager at Wightlink, Sam Woodman, says: “We were thrilled how Yarmouth Traders rose to the challenge to make their premises look amazing this year. We hope this will become an annual event and encourage mainland shoppers to cross the Solent and buy their presents from Island companies.”

Adrian Evans says:  “We are immensely grateful for the help and support Wightlink has given us. Our businesses have all made a real effort, there are some fantastically decorated windows, and the town feels very festive. Thank you to Sam and the team at Wightlink.”
